In fact, most controllers aside from BK that are rated for under 20 cells use the 25.4v caps from what I have seen. BK uses 50volt caps for reference. All things being equal, I would suspect lower temps with higher voltage when geared for the same speed. And I always use a fan - cheap insurance IMO, though I agree that if a fan is NEEDED, then the setup needs work. :)

My 9920 never really needed a fan geared 16/51, on 18/51 it was a definate (like the bash). But true, very cheap insurance. It gives me more confidence I guess. I can't say I like to run them though.
