With my 540C 7XL's front endbell JB Weld-ed on, the motor held up to some punishing jumps (big air, landing completely upside down in the street). So far so good :). You may want to try this out with your motor, as long as the coating on the wires isn't scratched off (which could cause a short), there's nothing to lose if you try :).
