you would use a the battery you will be running with the motor, and the ESC. No need for a powersupply like a brushed motor.

What you need..
Steel drum balanced w/accurate weight
A way to spin it by the motor (simple chain drive is easiest)
RPM sensor on drum/shaft
Software to translate the data

Companies offer the software w/sensors...around $1K.
