the 10L on 16 cells is more power. (it differs about 200 watts) The XL has got more torque though. You can run the 7XL on 16 cells, did you ever considered that?

Pushing the 18.97 to the limmit is not my favorite activity.. hanging an XL on it and 18 cells has got something possitive against a plettenberg; it are 2 poles instead of 4, so i think it should work out fine. (controller only need to 'work' at half speed against the 4pole plettenberg) A person on this board uses a 7XL on 18 cells with his 9918 controller.
