I've done nitro in the past, and my experiences have pushed me toward electric RC. Since I work at the LHS I also work with nitro vehicles, so I'm certainely not a noob when it comes to nitro. I can tune, start, or do whatever with them, sometimes even better than the other nitro guys there. But the general work involved with nitro is just not worth it to me. And nitro engines don't have as good of a lifespan as BL motors do (in terms of use, assuming neither is abused). I still have my first BL motor from almost 2 1/2 years ago, and it still is running fine (Feigao 8L).
Electrics offer more power, and are offering more and more power all the time. Batteries are improving, ESCs are improving, and high quality motors can be acquired. Nitro engines aren't improving much at all (as I see it), especially in comparison to electric power systems.
