I did originally purchase a FD conversion but after dealing with some issues before I even had my hands on the 8ight-t and gaining some valueable info on this forum I purchased the Quark speed control on E-bay(for $200), which ironically I got from Jeff Hautzinger who must be the same individual who designed the heatsink I got from Mike. If not, really wierd coincidence. The motor mounts and battery tray actually work really well for this application. Specially if you consider that I wanted as little fabrication work as possible. The only mod required was the removal of the rear brake and some trimming on the rear diff. mount. Once I figured out I really did'nt need the mechanical brake w/the Quark(which I had read, but found hard to believe), I removed the the front bakes and all that went with them. I will be limited to a 12, 13, or 14 tooth pinion though. As far as the motor goes, the jury is still out and only time will tell. At least once I get someone to clock my top speed I'll finally be able to figure out what the kv is. Then I can accurately purchase a motor closer to the correct kv for my required top speed which is, of coarse, slightly faster than the fastest nitro on the track....................?
