I have several high end servos... Airtronics, Hitec, and now Ace brand.... I have had good luck with all of them, even the Hitec 925 and 945 Digitals.

I also have one of the Bluebird 660MG from RCM. I would say the Bluebirds are easily the best servos under $40. It has good torque but it's quite a bit slower than the more expensive ones... but still faster than a standard servo. There are even cheaper Bluebirds too, with similar specs...

Last week I got a couple of the Ace servos that everyone loves...
Ace 1313 $80 (.13 and +170oz)
Ace 1015 $92 (.10 and +200oz)
Many guys say they are better than the specs too... feel like a $115 servo...

Then just last night I found the 1313 for $65 at Ultimate Hobbies. If that is not a typo... I would say get one of those!!! Free ship over $100 too...

You can also find the $100+ servos used for around half price. I got my 359 for $60 used... but in like new condition. I could have got a JR 9000T for $60 a while back form a local racer. I should have bought it... those are incredible high-torque servos.
