MM, each time the endbell pops out, I'm sure the metal is stretched or chipped/shaved down.
Its kind of like a push-pin or a tack into a wall. Push it in and pull it out to many times and the fit becomes loose. I know that metal is strong than drywall, but the same concept applies.
Also, since I'm sure the motor didn't come apart perfectly straight, I'm sure even more stress was put on the can where it is clamped.
