RIDGID A123 cells? - 08.30.2008, 11:21 AM

I bought a RIDGID Drill last month:
http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/...key=THDSiteMap
And it came with 2 battery packs.... for my needs I only need one. The specs are: a 3s pack, 12v, 3000mah (I think).
I was wondering if this is a good car pack, and if it would be easy enough to disassemble.
Thoughts?

Eve DeWalt is using newer cells in their packs that don't have the discharge C rating of the original A123 cells. So, I doubt this drill will have them.

They're not worth the bother?

I guess what I'm saying is, they might be, or they might not be. You won't know until you pull the packs apart and try it. But, drills don't subject the harsh punishment that our RCs do on cells, so my first instinct is to think it won't be worth the bother. You could always try one and see how it does.

I'll have to wait until I do my next project, it'll run at 3s voltage so I'll be fine to test these.
