Mamba Max red lights flashing only... - 06.27.2008, 08:53 PM

My MM with UBEC has been running flawlessly in my Revo for a very long time. However, it will be moving to my CRT.5 and my incoming MMM will go in the Revo.

I transfered over the MM to my CRT.5 this afternoon and checked all the connections, etc and they all seemed fine. When I turn it on, the red lights constantly flash...? Do I need to bind the receiver to the transmitter? Or the ESC to receiver or what?

I tried both, but only the red light flashes when binding the ESC to the receiver, and I seem to always have trouble binding the receiver to the transmitter. If having the receiver not binded to the transmitter does indeed cause this problem, then I will just have someone do it, because out of 4 or 5 receivers, I have only done 1 successfully.

Please help me out with this. I am dying to run my CRT.5 finally after having it sit for so long... Thanks in advance guys!

I always make sure my TX and Rx are comunicating before I worry about the RX to ESC hook up...since you use the TX for the initial Rx to ESC program

disconnect the reciver from everything and plug an rx pack into it and bind it completely seperate from everything else ( nothing plugged into it) this has helped me, to check and make sure you got it to bind plug it a servo thats also not attached to anyhting and see if does what it should. after its bound you should be able to get the MM to program, also i dunno if your running a switch or not but my spektrum take a second to "come on" at first, if you not running a switch on the mm try putting a switch back in, plug in your pack the bec should power up the reciver and servo make sure they are working then flip the switch and turn on your mm. you shouldnt have any problems

The thing is that when I try to bind the receiver and transmitter, the green light never ends up flashing on the receiver. The instructions say to hold down the bind button while turning on receiver (I use switch on MM btw) and wait for green light to flash on receiver. Then hold down bind button on transmitter and wait for the green light to flash on the transmitter. Then lights on both should be solid... but I can't even get past step one of having lights go on on the receiver...

Should I plug in the rx pack into the bat port on the receiver? How do I turn the receiver on if the ESC is not plugged in...?

I did have my RX plugged in to power the Rx when I set the Tx to Rx , or you could use a Rx battery pack

I ended up taking the RX from my rc18mt and putting it in my CRT.5. Man the thing rips like nothing else. It is so fast and handles and accelerates like nothing I have seen. I am waiting for a Mamba system from castle that went in for warranty, so once that comes, then I'll actually need to learn to bind the transmitter with receiver...

I hold the button in on the RX and plug in the esc or battery pack. The receiver will turn on as soon as you plug in a rx battery pack . You might be having problems with the MM using the UBEC. Try binding with out the ubec connected using a single battery or 7.2v battery connected to the MM and all three esc wires connecting to the RX. I think there is also an option in the MM setup to allow more time for you transmitter to synch (or something to that effect).

I understand you are having problems with the rx but just checking..... Are you holding the bind button in on the transmitter then turning on the transmitter power button on?

That is correct. But I do the receiver first and THEN the transmitter afterward. The problem is that I can't even get the light to go on on the receiver...

Maybe binding the TX and RX will be easier on the rc18... hopefully.

I believe the light on the Rx is to tell you that the binding has occured between the Tx and Rx, at least on my FAAST
