Which Neu for my Maxx? - 09.16.2008, 08:53 PM

I am looking for a Neu motor for my E-Maxx since my Align 600XL fried.

Here are the parameters -

Weight - 9.3 pounds without batteries

Cells LiPo - 4S (two 2S) ProTek 30C 4000 mAh packs

ESC- Mamba Max

I use it mostly in 2nd gear, so that's what I will base gearing for top speed on.

I want the truck to go at least 40 MPH on 4S LiPo. I want it to be able to do a backflip from a dead stop, with my wing mount/wing on it. I want wheelies at 3/4 throttle, and I want temps that are 135* or lower for the motor, and I would like the batteries to stay below 120*.

I was thinking of using the Neu 1512 2.5d, 1515 1y, or 1515 2d, and I plan on using a 23 tooth pinion (according to RCM speed calculator) to reach 40 MPH in second gear. I really want low temps, but I don't want to dump more money into 5S or 6S to have a big motor that runs cool.

So the question is, which of those above motors will work well, and if not any of those, what would you recommend?
