revo pinion - 12.26.2008, 07:07 PM

I am converting my revo 3.3 to brushless and want to know what pinion to use, i am a newbie to electric, but not to rc's. I have ordered a feigao 7xl, and i am going to use a mmm v3, and zipp-h lipos ( 5000mah, 5s, 20-30c ). I will lock second gear, and the spur is a 38t. what pinion should i use if im going to race at a medium size track, and want to bash with some buddies. I can order a couple if i need.

I'm currently using a 38/17 combo on my converted 3.3.

In order to get the best runtime out a truck what is the best way to gear it. Is it best to make it so the motor is undergeared, overgeared, or about perfect?

It's best to have it in between. Undergearing and overgearing can be inefficient and can also cause high operating temps.

Feigao 7XL will run hot in a Revo geared that high, you might want to run closer to 15/40, the Neu and Medusa motors have a much better design and will produce less heat
