Talking My RC-M MBX-6 Build... - 12.19.2008, 09:10 PM

I finally have my MBX6 together after receiving the MMM v3. I originally had my trusty Mamba Max in, but that went up in flames last week I was surprised it lasted all summer, but only one time on an indoor clay track.

My first conversion was a 777wc with the RCPD kit. It was nice and fell together but a few things always bothered me like the battery placement.
So for this build I went with Mike's parts. I really like Mike's stuff better. I was able to position the batter tray where I wanted it. I did have to take a "wedge" out of Mike's mounting tab on the battery tray to fit in the chassis where I wanted it though. I think with all these buggies getting thinner, Mike may want to revisit the size and make alterations. It wasn't a major amount of material I took off, so it was close. I only had to drill one screw hole in the chassis for the tray. I was worried I may need to do a few, but things lined up good with the nitro holes.

Since Castor Racing's Fusion is based off of the MBX5, I knew some of the parts from their electric buggy would work with the MBX6. I used their esc mount plate both front and rear of the center diff to mount my electronics. It was nice not to have to fabricate a piece of aluminum -- just line up the old mechanical brake screw holes and use a screw short enough to not exit out the other side. I am glad that Mike machines his mounts with the mechanical brake holes -- RCPD doesn't do this.

I used some spiral wire wrap and wire tube found at Wal*Mart to clean up the wires. Finally, I will eventually hard wire the motor in, but I don't know if I am sticking with the Medusa. I want a few races on it before I commit 100%

Gear:

MMM v3
Medusa 30-60-2000
RC-M Motor Mount
RC-M Battery Tray
