Lipos and charger for me. - 02.15.2009, 06:33 PM

Hey guys I am looking for batteries for my Muggy and 8ight-t. I have a mamba 2200 combo for the 8ight-t with a 14t pinion and basically everything else is stock. For the Muggy I haven't started converting yet but I plan on a Medusa 80mm on 6s. Now I need too know what charger I would need for these probably 6000 mah max. I would like a built in balancer as well.
I was looking at these packs:

Oh yeah Basically for the charger I want too stay under 200. I will probably need a power supply as well right? Or can I run it from a car battery lol. Any ways if I need one will you point me towards a PS too.
Thanks guys, I cant wait too get running.

Anything Neu or TP would kick ass, but concider the Elite 35c lipos- very comparable prices:

I dunno on your planned layout, but a pair of 3s lipos might fit better than a single huge 6s, but it does depend on the layout in the end.

As for a charger, something Hyperion flavour fits the bill nicely (built in balancer and easy to use): HYPERION EOS0610I 250W 6S 10A BALANCING CHARGER

Not sure about a power supply, That MRC item Mike sells looks alright for the price, but I'd look around for more ideas- Linc has tons of chargers, he'd be a good guy to ask about it..

Side note - If money is tight and you can't afford a power supply right away yes you can use a car battery, just don't have the car running! Some chargers such as the duo allow up to 26Volt input, so you could actually wire to car batteries in parrallel and the charger would be more efficcient.

I also agree with Neil on the Neu or TP lipos as they are Enerland cells, on that note polyquest, flightpower and enerland(they have their own brand) are all good choices. Stay away from MaxAmps, a few have been having good luck with their new cells but until they have been proven stay away!

Hyperion chargers will most likely be your best bet. Thats all I've used so far for charging lipos and I will most likely stay with them. A built in balancer and user friendly make them a great choice. They aren't the cheapest option but you generally get what you pay for.

SC10 MMPro 13.5T 2s NeuEnery 5000mah

Thanks guys, those are the chargers I considered but I wasn't really sure which one. I am new too the BIG batteries I am getting in too now. I was using a duratrax Ice for my smaller 3 and 4 cell packs. I don't know on the muggy but the 8ight t I think I am going too get some of the parts from the losi conversion kit like the rx box and battery tray.
If I use a car battery I will use a direct hook up. We have a few from old cars, rvs, boats and such. If its not necessary now I will wait on the PSU and get batts and charger since that will get me up and running faster. I still have time too look though as I live in Michigan and its still pretty cold and snowy but I would like too be ready for the warm up. The Elite batteries look nice at 35c. I need too look around for the 610i, I think JRH might have had one on clearance or for sale used before. Maybe by the time I get the charger I can catch another sale on Neu batts. Thanks for the help guys.
Oh and another question I thought of randomly. If you could get either a 3pk, dx3s or an m11 for the same price, what would you get and why? Thanks
