Neu Energy + Hyperion balancing question -
09.17.2009, 10:32 AM
I just bought a hyperion eos0606i, because I couldn't get my balancing taps plugged in to my old charger. Now I just noticed that the hyperion has exactly the same balancer connection tab, so I pretty much bought this thing for no reason.
The battery I'm using is a neu energy 6s 4300mah lipo.
My question is, on the balancing tap, does the red wires (6 red ones, one black), go on top or at the bottom? When I connect the battery directly to the charger, it says "balancer not connected". Tried it with both the same batteries and no result.
It seems like the wires are in the wrong order, very confusing, and now pretty pissed that I bought a new charger for nothing.
Thanks for any help

Well you should send teh charger back anyway as it only chargers at 50W...
With a 6S battery thats approx 2amps - You are looking at 2 hour+ charges...

You need the correct balancer adapter board from hyperion to use the kokam style tap on the neu lipo. Pretty sure the hyperion jst eh board fits the neu, but just check to make sure it fits kokam taps. Chris is right, that charger will only do 50watt output. You really want a better charger, and they are well worth the addl cost.

Well that sucks. I didn't look at the watt specs. Thought I could expect more from a 130 dollar charger.
Anyway, it's not that the balacing taps don't connect. It just seems that they are inverted and thus giving a "not connected" warning.
I'll grab some pics..

The 2 boards are wired differently, you need the correct board.

Can anyone point me out the correct board? I just hope I didn't damage my batteries yet when trying to connect. The connector fits good, but the polarity isnt :(

you could get a turnigy accucel-6 charger that has the same features and power rating, but with the correct balance taps built-in for only $35. i have one and can vouch for it. it is dead accurate (tested with a high-end voltmeter) and has never given me any issues. it is also smaller, which just makes things a little easier.
They say a good mechanic only needs 2 tools - WD40 & Duct tape. If it moves, and its not supposed to, duct tape. If it doesn't move, and its supposed to, WD40.

Update: it seems that the only difference between Hyperion style balacing tap and the EH-type taps is that they are inverted, so I could just flip the connector on my charger and now it seems to be connected. I'll still order the EH type though because the connector doesn't click well when flipped around.
Is it normal that the charger switches between CHG and BLNcing every second?
