i keep breaking the transmission pins - 12.23.2009, 10:35 PM

like the title said i keep snapping the pins for the gears in the tranny... its the one for the gear b4 the center diff. (dont have one but its the gear it replaces) ive already gone thru 3 of them and dont have any spares left.. what would be a good alternative?

i was thinking of buying a drill bit the same size and use the shank off that.

Yes there are many threads on just this subject, and the best suggestions are using drill bit shanks, or even allen key shafts. Both are made of hardened steel and work well. Keep in mind that once you insert this alternative and eleviate that weak point, the weak spot trikles down to something else in your drivetrain.

Enlarge the hole to 2.5mm and use a drill bit shank. Those puny 2mm pins don't last long as you found out.
