Beware of RUSTY XL-5

I have thought long and hard about this before writing...but I do not want this to happen to anyone else here.

First, he has painted 2 other bodies for me w/no issue and his work was excellent. This past January I mailed him another body to paint. All good so far. Two weeks went by and he sent me a pm w/the body outlined and sketched on for my approval to go ahead and paint. I said go for it...now, it is early Feb by this time. He said that it was ready to paint on Feb. 8 but could not get to it due to the rain. A month goes by with no contact so I send him another pm asking for an update..... He finally sent me another pm a full month after I sent him one...he said that he was having issues w/ an illness and that his family was dealing w/an home invasion. I sent him another pm back wishing him well and to not worry about the body right then.

So, we are now into may and still nothing...now, he not only stringed along myself, but another member as well. Exact same scenario as mine. Both of us have not heard from him in over a month. The other member actually sent him a e-mail which was responded to by his FATHER! His father sent both of us a response stating that he will be working on our bodies sooner than later. The other member's body arrived and he was less than pleased to say the least....( the other member and my self had been communicating through this whole process). So, 2 more weeks go by w/no contact with anyone and what do you know, my body shows up on my doorstep! My body came out rather well considering....

What really ticked me off and the other member is that he stopped communicating all together. He had both of our bodies for so long that it was ludicrous....4 months! His father did the dirty work for him...all the communication, which was through e-mail- not one single pm through this site which is BS IMO. He needed to step to the plate and be a man about this whole process, instead he wimped out. As a business man he needs to go take some classes on how to treat your customers. ( if I did what he did to my customers, I would be out of business real fast ) I should have insisted on a partial refund just for the aggravation factor.

I just hope that this does not happen to anyone else here. I am truly disgusted by this whole process

that is a rather lame situation, but maybe you don't fully know what is goin down in Rusty XL-5s life.

you got the bodies back and sure it took forever, but if he was going through crap like you said he said then I wouldn't make it a huge deal.

Ive lagged it before with trades (not 4 months...) so I can see how it is for rusty with just getting preoccupied in other things going on in his life.

my point isn't to say your wrong.. just hoping for rustys sake that it was an honest mistake on his part.

I fully understand the part of his home invasion... What upset myself and the other member was his father did the communicating not him personally. He has never apologized for taking a long time, not responding, etc...I never even asked for a refund...which I could easily have done.

Let me ask you this...if you paid for a service and after 4 months it was not done and you had no idea as to why, how would you feel.

If you paid upfront, then yeah, real bad form. Even if you didn't, it would have been best to let you know he was unable to do it right away and just cancel the deal. Not cool to string someone out so long for that. We all have stuff going on that keeps us busy and distracted, but that doesn't let you out of your responsibilities to other people. Not fair to them.

i can see where your coming from and i feel you were more than fair.

but he took the money so he took the job, and a job is a job. There was more than enough leniency. but a job is a job is a job.

If i went to work with a problem..they would give me a few days....but if im not back up and running im going to get reemed

I agree That 4 months and no communication is too much. If I sell a part I do my best to get that part out the same day. I understand he may have probs. but communication goes along way in business. glad to hear you two atleast got the bodies back.
