? What to use to mark carbon fiber?

i am wanting to make some custom parts what do you use to mark carbon fiber? i want the lines to be very visable.. any help would be great thank you.

I just use any writable tape for surfaces that don't lend themselves to marking directly.

Cover with masking tape and use a pencil/pen, Or silver pencil

A pencil, the softer the better but a normal HB will work.

Exactly what I do. I cover the whole piece of CF with blue painters tape, then draw out the design on it. Then I run a sanding wheel on a dremel over the edges. Taping it will also help keep the edges from getting burrs on it from cutting.

Silver Sharpie marker! Shows up great and marks very easilly. I use it all the time to mark CF for cutting.

Works awsome for marking dif housings to note what fluid is in there And just about anything else that is dark in color.

Masking tape on the surface with a good hb or b pencil works for me... It also allows you protect the surface while you work.

I recently bought a few pages of printable stickers, A4 size. So thought it could be used for this application. I don't have autocad on my computer anymore but it would make it easy to draw up unusual shapes and then use hand tools to cut them out. No need for cnc!

Yes!! I forgot about crack and peal paper... really good stuff to lay designs down on carbon, but don't apply it directly to the carbon surface.

Don't stick it to the cf?? Why not?

Well, crack and peal manufacturers usually make the paper with high tack adhesives which makes it a little difficult to remove the paper from most surfaces...
if you can find low tack version (something similar to window masking), you can use it directly on the carbon... try a small piece first and see what happens
when you try to remove it...
