Sidewinder SCT Question

I'm looking to put the 3800kv Sidewinder SCT system in my son's SC10. Is 3S an absolute no-no, even in a fairly light 2WD vehicle like this? I'm fairly certain it will be fast enough on 2S to have plenty of fun, but just want to know if we are really limiting ourselves with this setup. Currently he is running the RTR brushless system that came with the truck (2S, 3300kv), but it runs hot and the power is not all that impressive.
