Lehner for 14cells

What would be a good decision:
2800XL or 2400XL (14cells) for my RevoXX?
What exactly does "(very) easy on your speed controller" mean? (compared to my Feigao 9L)
Or what about the 1940?

What would you suggest? I'm looking for a reliable motor that will push my Truck to +35mph. At the moment I'm having a very hard time keeping my temps save, no matter what I try.
A fan on the ESC is fine, but I think a BL motor should handle a less than 10 pound MT without fan.

Will the Lehners run cooler than the Feigaos?

My guess is that the lehner 1940 series are as good as the feigao, but they will cost you a lot of money. A LEHNER 1940 motor costs around $220-240 or even more while a 9t feigao will cost much much less, around $80 bucks plus it will deliver you more than what you want outta your truck, so you might want to try the novak HV system since it can deliver you 35+ mph and it comes with a cooling fan for the ESC and a motor heatsink too, all of that for not so much money, but when you start looking for real speeds that can inflect some real damage upon your truck you then should try one of lehner's 2230-2240 motors and your REVOXX will wish to die than to be pulled around by a 3000WATTS motors. "VERY EASY ON YOUR SPEED CONTROL" means it will not drain alot of power from your ESC and so your controller will stay cooler and work more effeciently. If you want to use 14 cells I suggest that you go for the 2800XL. You should also check the gearing and the meshing of your truck( I'm not that good at gearing so M.Mike should be counsulted or you can ask BK electronics for such things) if you are suffering from heat problems.

35mph was just a wild guess, I don't mind if it's more:D I just want a stable, reliable BL system.
And no, Novak is outta question for me. I have no trouble modding my ESC's with fans.

The current temp issues: Well, the mesh is always properly set, and I have tried everything from under- to overgeared what my pinion selection allows. Now I will have to get different spurs. Let's see. The drivetrain is also free of binding.

But I had the idea to get a better combo for my Revo and making my TwinForce Dual Nemesis powered.

Any opinions on that?

Of the ones I have in stock, the xl2400 or xl2800 would work very well. The 1940 size motors are something to consider as well, but they are pricey. The basic series will run a bit more efficiently than the Feigao motor (less heat), whlle the "premium" Lehner motors are among the best motors available in terms of quality and efficiency. Te twin force would be pretty retarded on a dual susytem. Even one system is pushing the handling characteristics of the twin force platform (handling).
What kind of heat are you getting on your motor?

You're probably right about the TwinForce :o But I must say that I really like mine on the 9L. (I used to have a MadForce) The handling, well, this is a true MT, imho. And I like to bash it at a local gravel pit, and I put it thru stuff that I would never dare with my Maxx or Revo. I like the Force for what it is. True, it will never stand a chance on a track, but it's the best basher I have ever seen, and the jumping characteristics are just amazing.

The Revo on the 9L: I usually switch it off when the motor gets to 90°C. I tried different pinions, but without much success.
As I told you, the drivetrain is okay, and I don't drive in grass.
Unfortunately I only have one stock spur, but I have a variety of pinions, from 14 to 20t.
The controller gets hot too, sometimes close to 100°C:eek: I am working on a fan as we speak. But I hope I can cure my whole heat issue. Maybe I should just focus on one gear, seeing that the difference in gearing ratios between 1st and 2nd is exceeding the "bandwith" of my motor. (I hope you know what I mean)

I would really like to have a system that I can run without worries, even on hot days.
I think I might try the Lehner 2800XL, though. Let's see. I don't mind spending a few extra bucks for the comfort of a race-proof setup.

You know the setup, 14cell, 9918, EMaxx driveline and weight.

What are their dis/advantages, concerning Runtime, Speed, Torque....

the 2400xl will run the coolest, and will be plenty powerful as well, especially on your short track. The 3100 will run pretty hot and the 2800 will be somewhere in the middle. The 2400 or 2800 both runt very well on 12-14 cells (2400 likes a little more voltage). the 2400 in my emaxx is almost too fast for our track (which has a 150+ foot straight) on 18.5 volt Lipos. On 14.8, it is near perfect(of course, the rtr weight of the truck with 14.8 Lipo is below 8 pounds, I think).

You're right about the short track, Mike. But this one will have a more serious duty: I plan to race against nitros an a real track.
So it should be able to push my less-than-10-pound truck above 35mph, and it should do this without thermo issues for 2 packs back to back.

Do you think the 2800 would be a good choice, then?

The 2800 should work fine. Just amke sure you have good airflow over the motor.

Your heatsink would fit those lehner motors as well, wouldn't it?

Yes. It will fit most motors for this application (36mm outside diameter).

You might as well want to experiment a bit with amount of cells.

I heard that a 10L runs cooler on 16 than on 14 cells. It is all a matter of on what voltage/gearing(load) they are most efficient.

Yes, Serum, that's what I often think. But at this point I only got packs of 7 cells, and quite a lot of them. I always bought them in sets of 14 matched cells. So I am rather limited when it comes to cell-count-experiments:o Gotta play with gearing.
Unfortunately my Truck is the only seriuos EP RC I know here in my area, so the only packs I could borrow from "friends" are cheap, old Cadmium 6 packs.

Just try the green hopf GP3300's.. they are rather cheap.. they are good cells too
