17 mm hexes with ue cvd... - 11.01.2007, 07:12 AM

Does anyone here know which 17mm wheel hub will fit the UE CVDs without problems?

I want to get the Ofna Dominator's rims for my SuperMaxx to give it maxximum width and these rims are only usable with 17mm hexes.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Al :)

any 17mm hex that is made for the maxx/revo should work right with the UE cvds (i say 'should', as i have no experience with 17mm adapters. only 23mm ones). but as long as the adapter (regardless of who makes it) has the hex shape cut out of the back to accept the metal UE hex, it'll work.

if you look on page 13 here, it appears there is nothing special about how the wheel attaches to the 17mm hex.

got that link from here - great site for stuff like this.

All the 17mm adaptors Ive seen dont have a hex cut into the back- the UE cvds are unique in that respect. If UE themselves dont sell a 17mm hex, then you might have to find a 14mm-17mm adaptor to use with a standard 14mm hex....

i thought the pro-line 17mm adapters had a hex cut in the back of their adapters? i'm pretty sure the integy ones don't. dace makes 23mm adapters with the hex cut in the back (UE doesn't make adapters at all) but there needs to be some way to utilize the hex, as that's how all maxx's and revo's work (plastic hex for stock, metal hex for UE cvds).

Hmm, I cant find any 17mm adaptors on the Pro-line site. Anyway, I had some OFNA 17mm adaptors once, and they just slid onto the axle and were secured with a cross pin and set screw to hold it in. The 23mm Pro-line adaptors I had just had the slot cut into the back to accept the cross pin, then the nyloc nut went in the front to bolt it into place.

The UE cvds are a bit silly like the Tamiya stub axles which were/are splined & have a splined hex. All I can suggest is the 14-17mm adaptor hex which goes over the top of the stock 14mm hex.

That, or any chance of finding some off-set rims with a 14mm hex?....

Remind me in a week or so when I finish up your projects, Alawi. I have made some 14mm to 17mm adapters specifically for the UE hexes for a custom truck build a short while ago - I can dig up the file and make a set for you. :)

Hey I would like to get a set too. I have been looking for someone to make 17mm and 12mm to. There was a guy on e-bay that said he was going to start making them but he never did. Thanks Mike

P.S. I need some clutch pads for my strobe slipper. Will you get any soon??
