Jonesing for a *MAXX - 02.22.2011, 11:04 AM

First monster truck I had was a T-Maxx 3.3... I have some spare 2200kv Castle motors and have pondered what to do with them, so I got this jonesing for Maxx after having gone through various ideas - standard savage flux, e-revo, monsterified 4x4 losi sct/slash, etc. Plus I already have a 3508 tranny as I was thinking of doing a Twin/Mad Force solid axle conversion, but decided that there were too many downsides.

One of the things I wanted to do was to keep it kinda standard monster length/width so I had as many bodies as possible to choose from.

So I was thinking of the following Maxx based:

3508 tranny with mod 1 spur/pinion (undecided) running on 2200kv with MMM and 4S.

FLM EMaxx chassis (http://www.fastlanemachine.net/prodd...lm10900&cat=15)

FLM Hybrid Front/Rear Bulkheads using Vorza/D8/Ve8 front/rear diffs.
FLM Front/Rear aluminum skid plate; since the bulks are anchored here too makes sense.

RPM Lower Front suspension arms
RPM TruTrack Rear suspension arms
Savage XSS Upper Front/Rear suspension arms (if possible)
RPM axle carries
RPM Pillow balls

RPM Front/Rear bumpers
RPM Front/Rear wear guards

RPM Shock Towers

Not sure about shocks; thinking maybe some shorter truggy front shocks; and just 4 instead of 8.

Tires will probably be the set of Badlands on Maximizers I have; good size for a large 10th scale on 4S.

The reason for the potential mode with the Savage XSS Upper Front/Rear suspension arm is one of the things I hated most about the T-Maxx... that you had to take the arms apart to get off the shocks! Pita; either that or I was just being stupid. Either that or use some some RPM upper arms, but cut off one side that I'm mounting the shocks on.

Thinks I would want to replace is to get rid of the traxxas driveline with either CVDs or dogbones. Of course with the FLM chassis, it uses dogbones for the tranny driveline. So any good luck with Traxxas axle CVDs? Or does someone have axle dogbones?

Other thoughts? Its gonna kinda be expensive, but what the hell. :)

With the exception of the FLM chassis, that pretty much describes my Maxx. I still have the stock chassis though, and thats the only thing that keeps me from calling it Bulletproof. My traxxas CVD's have been holding up fine to 6s 1520 power.

BTW, you don't have to touch the arms to get the shocks off! Lol
