Got everything fixed except one thing... need help. - 03.03.2008, 07:37 PM

I posted about a month ago that I was having issues with letting off the throttle and the truck nose dives. My setup is a 1515, MGM controller with a 5S battery.

At first, I realized that I had changed ring and pinion in the rear but not the front. Since I had used a Emaxx 3905 ring and pinion, I found out that the gear ratio was steeper on the front axle than the rear.

No problem, I changed the front also.

My rcmonster motor mount was flexing though the bolts were tight and loctited so I installed a Blue Groove motor mount since it's tig welded into one piece.

No flexing there.

I've increased the dead throttle percentage... no help.

I've bumped the throttle trim up... no help.

The spur gear mesh is correct.

I've programmed my MGM programmer to have free wheel at neutral but it still does it.

It's hit and miss, I could let off the throttle and it may or may not nose dive. It's getting extremely frustrating.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Mark

Nope, I'm using the motor for brakes but have no drag set. Any other ideas?

Thanks,

Mark

Sounds like the famous "MGM full brake at neutral occasionally" syndrome. A few of us have just sent our speed controls back to MGM to have the latest software put on them (v3.20). Hopfully they have resolved this issue along with a couple of other small problems.
Here are a couple of threads to have a read through that might help.

Andrew, Thanks man, that helps. I didn't even look for other threads because I thought it was a one of a kind problem. I've talked to Mike several times about it and he had no idea what could be causing it. I find it wierd that he hadn't heard anything about it yet apparently I'm not the only one.

Usually Mike seems pretty up on any problems with any of his products. Looks like I'm gonna have to send mine back because not only is it annoying, it has to be beating the crap out of the drivetrain to come off full throttle and just literally stop.

That may explain why I keep breaking pins in the trans.

I'm gonna wait until the MMM comes out and buy it, then I'll send this POS in for an update. I wouldn't be pissed except this is the second one I had to get from Mike. The first one died before I even had a chance to really use it and I looked like an idiot having to keep bothering Mike because I thought I was doing something wrong.

Thanks again,

Mark

orangecrush, Try setting your radio to 125% on the EPA, both forward and reverse, then go throught the ESC set-up process of setting it up to the new transmitter throw. Set your ESC's neutral to 6%, or 9%. I use mine on 9%, standard is 12% I believe. This helped mine 100%, I would get momentary braking when I let off too, but now its stopped. I found it under one of these threads so I cannot take credit, just passing on info that helped me.

HM,

Thanks, I read the link that Andrew posted and it said the same thing. As soon as this darn storm passes, I'll try it.

Thanks for everyone's help.

auto tune helped me the most with that issue, but I never did get it resolved completely.
I was using a 16018.

This solution worked for me as well. I still might send mine in for the upadte but as of right now I am experiencing no issues on my race truggy.

I thought of sending mine in (just bought it in Jan) but all the bugs are gone, it even works well with lipo cut-off on 4s. I just hate the thought of it going in for service, then making other issues appear, I have to wait till others get there's back to see whats different. Then there's the MMM comming soon, (fingers crossed) that may find its way into my maxx too.
