Airtronics Servo - 08.20.2005, 03:33 PM

Hi guys,
anybody any experiences with this Servo:
http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...rp4358z&cat=39

It's the Airtronics 94358Z ERG-VB Hi-Speed/Hi-Torque Servo.

I'm considering it for an upcoming project.

Thanks in advance for your help.
DAF

That is a very good servo, you can't go wrong with it. Do you really need one that good though? It is very expensive! The BMS-630MG is almost as good, but costs 1/3 as much as that Airtronics:

Thank you for the suggestion, Metalman. I saw this BMS servo, too. I already have a 0.15 sec servo, and you're right, actually this is good enough. But maybe I'll try a faster hi-torq one day.

I also saw this interesting piece of info in the BMS describtion:
WARNING: Using the servo arm to turn the servo may cause the gears to break or jump and the servo will stop functioning correctly. This is true for all servos regardless of servo manufacturer.

I always thought this turning by hand can't be good. Always tryed to avoid it, but it happens all the time when you wrench on an RC (or is it just me??)

I do it all the time, mostly accidentally.

Daf,
If you read enough you'll probably find the same warning from all servo manufacturers. It's generally not good to turn the servo unless it's turned under it's own power.
I really don't think it would affect a good metal-geared servo, but I limit it nonetheless.

PS - I have the BMS620MG in my MGT and it works great. I'm sure the 630 would be even nicer.

This BMS630 sounds good. Man, I'm kicking myself for buying the JR Z650 just a few days ago.

Heck, this BMS has even better specs than my JR Z8800T
I have to try this BMS servos. Anybody else some experience with this servos?

those new Hitec titanium gear servo's have got the same price, and much more torque and allmost the same speed. (this extra torque can be translated into speed though)

My guess is that with this turning the motor acts like a generator, so it might blow up the electronics. mechanic there can't go anything wrong with the servo if you do it with care..

Yeah, I've seen them too, Rene. Which one would you suggest if price was not a question??

But, you have to admitt, 195oz and 0.15sec for 33$ is worth an experiment.

Too bad! Let me see it when you find it somewhere.

While we're on the topic (well, off-topic, but at least it's my own thread this time:) ) Rene, now you know the Cali Bros... Camel once made a Lego crawler. Non-RC, but he made a cute stop-and-go vid. I think you might just like it.

Snif... Nice try Daniel.. The link is down..

You're trying to talk the Tonka monster out of my head right???

;)

yes, another thread is lost..

But seriously.

That airtronics is nice, but IMO that hitec is nicer and for that price, the bluebird is a league on its own!

Is the BMS this Bluebird? Always thought they are blue!?

Ouch, the links of Camels Lego crawler are down, but I'm sure he will dig something out when he reads this thread.

Camel, please share your Lego crawler with our big dutch boy!!

No way I'm trying to talk you out of something, Serum. This is a serious topic, I know:D
