What spurs will work with my new 3905? - 05.08.2008, 11:52 AM

I've heard that Jato are the same but are there any others?
I'm getting ready to put in a 9xl motor and want a low tooth count spur. I've got a good 17t spur and Losi ATX tires on dish rims but need heklp with spur ideas.

This was geting to be a dead section so heres a new thread for Maxx's

You can use Revo spurs as well but their pitch is mod 1 so you will need mod 1 pinions also. They come in 36t, 38t and 40t.

yeah they're bigger teeth so cant fit as many on the same diameter gear (which is what really matters).

You can also use mgt spurs, but they need a little modification to fit. They are mod 1 and require a 5x10 bearing instead of the stock 5x11 bearing. They come in most sizes from 46 to 52 tooth.

Do they bolt to the newer 'torque control' slipper? I thought they were only good to fit the old style slipper?

You have to enlarge 3 of the small holes to 5mm to fit the revo spec slipper mounts. And you can either enlarge the center hole to 11mm to fit the stock bearing, or use a 5x10 bearing that is slightly oversize. I usually just file fit the spur to fit the 5x10 bearing.

On tower it says all the MGT spurs are 32P? Even weirder, the kimbrough ones have 'Module 1' in their title, but '32P' in the description... can this be cleared up?

Also, as a side note, I just got my 3905 tranny together to try and stick it in my revo some how, and unfortunately I have no gears that will mesh. With the motor as close as it can go, with 40t and 18t pinion, the tips of the teeth only just touch. Not sure what I plan to do about this.. hopefully those MGT spurs are actually mod1.

Mgt spurs are mod1, tower is wrong.

Here is a pic of what a modded mgt spur looks like. I think that the center is enlarged to fit a 5x11, but a 5x10 bearing is much easier to use.
