Lipo Questions - 03.13.2008, 03:27 PM

I am building up an E-Revo and have decided that I should probably make the switch from NiMH to Lipo. I mainly bash and do speed runs. But go to the track every now and then. The E-Revo has a 8xl in it and I am probably going to get a MM or maybe wait for a MMM.
I was going to get this charger (I want to get a good charger right at the start):

As for the Lipo packs themselves should I get 2 of these and wire them in series, since it is in a protective case:

or Should I go with these:

or the 4s2p 8000 mAh at True-Rc

Good choice on the charger, I have used many hyerion chargers and can say that they have never given me any trouble.

Out of the batteries you listed the trakpower would be the best. The 3700 pack will be a bit small, both in capcity and amp discharge capability, for the 8xl. I have many 4s lipo setups, and feel that at least 90 amps cont offers a good saftey margin and will allow the 8xl to produce peak power.

The true rc pack will be fine, as those cells are under-rated, and many here use them with great success. I have a pair of trakpowers, and can say that they are definately worth the money, and the hard cases can take a beating.

So the Trakpower would be the best for what I am want to do. But if I got the True RC pack I would be just as happy.

If you want a single pack the true rc will work just fine with the 8xl in the revo. The trakpower packs are more expensive. You will most likely get longer runtime with the true rc pack, but it will be heavier (not sure how much). I would probably go with the true rc battery for your setup.
