It programs through the throttle cable, so hook the USB end of the link to your PC, hook the other end of the link to the throttle cable on the BEC.

Gotcha, I don't have the castle link then. The cable that came with my mm is just a cable right?

program the BEC before you connect it to the ESC, there have been some issues with the castle link program getting confused if you try programming after you connnect

I haven't got it yet but trying to work out how to install it when I get it. By the looks of the photo the black and red wire go to battery and the ESC goes to Channel 1 (which is for steering) and BEC goes to Channe 2 for throttle which makes no sense, where is the steering throttle mean't to go??????

Thats a rather simplified diagram in terms of the Rx hook-up, look at BrianG's diagrams:

http://www.scriptasylum.com/rc_speed/_wiring_bec.html

Select 'UBEC wiring option' 1 or 2.

Note that the CastleLink is only intended for the CC-BEC and other (non-MM) controllers. The Mamba Max specifically is only programmable through the on-board USB port, not the 3-wire receiver terminal. I too ran into this issue recently and it’s clearly stated in the Castle Link software (great interface btw). Also you can program the CC-BEC while it’s installed/interfaced with your ESC. You simply have to “turn-off” the enable/disable toggle switch for the ESC and the CC-BEC will sync right up.
