Wheel play, replace axel carriers ? - 04.08.2008, 05:39 AM

I got a used Revo that has some unwanted wheel play.
I can move the wheel by hand back/forwad and feel the play, its not much but my crt.5 is solid as a rock when I do the same.
I have shimmed my 24 mm hexes, checked wheelnuts. tightend the pivotball "nuts", replaced the bearings on one wheel but some play is still there.
When checking I noticed some play between the outer bearing and the axel carrier.

Can axel carriers get "worn" (not talking about pivot balls popping) and is this normal ?
If I should replace them should I go for stockers or an aftermarket brand ?
