today was my first day running a nitro - 04.10.2008, 05:41 PM

now first i am a big fan of electric. in no danger of losing me to nitro. with all that said i spent almost all week getting my tmaxx 2.5 to start. well today she was able to run perfectly fine. so i managed to sneak in the break in on the 2.5 engine. right after break in the motor caused my second and last (on hand) glow plug to fail. the truck got banged up -pretty good near the end when i too ka few turns too fast and she rolled over on me. the truck is sporting the disruptor body form traxxas and was able to take some paint off and also something at some point puched a decent sized hole in the left rear corner of the body. i wont be buying any glow plugs till this weekend when i go to work. for those who dont know i work at a hobbytown usa that is very local to me. anyways here are pics of the truck within minutes of break in ending:

and no i wont get rid of the roll cage. she has already proved her usefullness and i also like the look of the cage. currently need some heat shielding for the fuel lines. jsut so you know the heat form my motor melted the stock traxxas heat shields. anybody got any suggestions?

no specific experience with the Tmaxx, but how hot were you running that motor?

It looks like it has discoloration in the head already and I wouldnt expect the heat shield to melt if you are running it at a reasonable temp?

I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...

Could the discoloration be a leaky head gasket?

If you are going to run nitro, a tempgun is one of the most imprtant accessories you can own. Really helps tuning and will help you keep the motor running within a reasonable temperature.

Try wrapping fuel slit so it goes over your fuel to protect it from the heat
