BPP extended bone

If you've ever seen one of these up close, you will probley think as I did that they are indestructible.
Well sadly not, the ball end on mine has snapped off, It even looks like they are not machined as one piece, but actualaly have the ball ends silver soldered on. :eek:


It wouldn't be too much of a problem if the lads at BPP answered their emails from time to time. :rolleyes:
anyways me thinks it is time to use a different bone, one that is easer to source.

So can anyone suggest one, it needs to be 123/125mm long.
I have tried the LSP ones and they are just too long
I have also tried the savage out drive bones witch are the right length, but the balls are to big to fit the UE drive cups.

can anyone help, as I'm off the road and going 'Cold Turkey'

Could you put a plastic wheel shaft in? I know it won't hold if you have a lot of power. Get you going long enough to calm the shakes of withdrawl. :)

A steel one is the only long term option though.

Mike can get right many different lengths. If all else pm Mike. He should know of something. Can you get the cups to fit your savage bones? I wish I could do more to help. Good luck on your hunt.

I know you want a bone with 2 drive cups, but the CVD's like MIP's would work there. Whatever you use, it should be the same length as a diff to wheel axle on the maxx, correct me if im wrong.

If i had the mip wheel ones i would measure for you. Look like you can change the wheel part for the shaft part between the center and wheel on the mips. Maybe some one else can give you a measure ment. Good luck

I use MIP E-maxx center cvds with the regular center bone up front and a wheel to axle bone in the rear. It works great and seems like a good solution to your problem. They also are very strong

You will need these items:

MIP E-maxx Center CVD kit
Original non-wide maxx CVD bone Part #1487

Also I haven't tried it yet but I think the newer silver bone from the newer widemaxx cvds might fit better if you use UE 7.5 diffs The non-wide maxx bone doesn't go although in the cup with the UE 7.5 diffs, but it goes in enough and since the center CVD do not move its not a big deal. I haven't had a problem yet though. I also havent used this combo with stock diffs but have been told they fit great with those diffs.

The shaft that he is talking about and sold by BPP is made by RC Alloys. Because of the design of there shafts it makes them weak by the ball. I believe shafts really should be about the same dia for the hole shaft. Because RC alloys makes these shaft so think in the middle all the force is transfered to the thinner area around the ball which causes it to break instead of dist the force through the length of the shaft like normal same dia shafts. They are also made of stainless steel.

Although I do think rcalloys is great and they do offer a great service making custom length shafts.

Yes that is my opinion too. I don't get it why they keep so much un-needed material on, thus making it a heavy sucker. Prolly cost's too much to do or something.

It's holding up fine on my maxx for now though.

Not sure I understand how to use a CVD shaft though, as one end has the stub axle on it.
Or do MIP make dog bone drive shafts as well??
Or is it me just being a dumb a$$

If you want to try and fit the widemaxx shaft for size, that would be great.
As I would like to try and source a shaft that doesnt have to be custom made.
