Truggies with 1515 2.5D 1650 kv on 6S 5000-6000 mah - Runtime - 04.29.2008, 08:14 PM

For people who have used a Neu 1515 2.5D 1650 kv on 6S 5000-6000 mah (Enerland cells) in truggies, (I know this is a popular 6S choice) what types of runtime have you gotten with this combo when racing? I am going to be racing an 8ight-T on a medium-sized low traction track with 30 minute mains, and I'm wondering if I could get something like 35 minutes with this combo with conservative gearing.

Thanks.

I run a 1515 2.5D on 6s in a Muggy (heavier than truggy); I get 20 - 25 min run time on 4300 Neu 25c batts. So you should be pretty close with the larger cells.

30 minutes will be tough, but with the right setup you might get there on 6000mah.

I run 5s 5000mah on a 1515/2.5D and get around 20minutes exactly in my truggy. For a 20 minute race I would probably want to run 6000mah just to be sure. On 6s and geared conservatively you just might make 30 on 6000. 30 minutes of race onditions is a tough one on a truggy. It becomes an issue of weight with a pack that will comfortably give that.

I might consider an even lower kv motor to try and maximize the run time. The 1515/2.5D is a beast on 6s and you said it was a low traction track so having that much power on tap might actually be a disadvantage and a lower kv will help with the run time.

EDIT: Dont get me wrong... It'll still smoke any nitro out there power wise. I had a 1512/2.5D on 5s in my Revo at one point last year and in a flat out drag race in high traction short grass against a truggy with a Modified Novarossi 528 I ran dead heat after dead heat with him. And that was the fastest nitro truggy I had ever seen. So any 1515 will have more power than that.

I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...

I think in the thread 'gathering runtime' you'll find equal setups?

I went through all of the pages and only found few close to this combo.

So do you guys think that I should go with the 1515 3D 1360 kv motor?

Would you consider doing a pit stop?

Dont the gas cars have to stop for a fill up, you could do the same with a battery, should take the same amount of time.

There are posts about this if you search around here.
