powering my "new" old school truggy - 05.07.2008, 08:04 PM

Well i finally decided to break down and go ahead and start a truggy instead of trying to make my 3s work in a buggy, its gonna take me a month or so to slip the funds by and purchase everything but it should be nice.

here is what i got http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...ducts_id/22865 i remember this truck coming out back in late 2004 and wanting one so bad, well apperantly amainhobbies had 2 of these babies stashed back in the warehouse and now they only have one left i couldnt pass it up for such a low price, its fully upgraded special edition kit with all the fixings, if you guys didnt know that GS .25 is a pretty hot topend motor and will be easy to sell. Plus its based of the OLD GS storm buggy which was tough as nails. I even looked up the RC driver test and review and they LOVED it.

so there is my start, i gotta get the power system sorted out so i can get the motor and battery here and take my time making their mounts, while i pay those off then ill buy the esc.

alrighty the truck has a 54 tooth spur and a buggy drivetrain, ill use a 13,14,15 pinions, i plan on getting the mamba monster max in middle of june or so when some are more availible plus itll be the last thing i buy so with a good esc chosen now i need to know what would be best to run 4s or 5s, i am wanting a solid 40mph out of the truck and 30mintue run times also , now i think you would get that more effeciently with the 5s wouldnt you? i was thinking a 10xl motor with a 5s Nue 30c/60c lipo either 4100 or 5000 which ever i would need to get my runtime i want. The 4100 weighs 100grams less than the 5000 and is narrower by 7mm , both are rated well over a 120 amps continuos and should handle the truck and xl motor easily. now ive never ran or seen a 5s setup truggy run so would i get what i want out of this motor and battery combo with the MMM......

any input is apperciated thanks for the help guys this is gonna be my race truck, and i will keep my LS10 for bashing and playing. Also i have a solid 9x6x2" block of kydex plastic sitting at work ready to be machined for a battery tray, the motor mount will have front and rear support on this truck also but better looking than the LS10 setup i made. this i great im finally gonna build me a real truggy and do it right.
