hv maxx 4.5 - 05.13.2008, 02:55 AM

hey people.

i am getting my revo back that i sold to my friend. im buying it back. lol. but as a roller and i wanted to put the new emaxx tranny in it with a single motor mount and use a novak hv maxx 4.5. reason for that system is cause i can get it for like 220 from my work. and i have always like using novak stuff on my on road cars. so i want to try it out on my revo.

but what i dont konw what to do about is the batterys. i was thinking about doing dual batterys. one on each side of the car. and using maybe 3 cell 4800mah each. ( i can get them for a good price at work). and wireing them up so i can get 3 cell 9600mah. but would 3 cell's be enough to power this thing good. like i know the hv maxx was made for the emaxx and to be used with 14.4 volts. and a 3 cell is like 11.1 volts. should i use 2x2 cell lipos and wiring them up so i get 4 cells?

thanks

I don't know what you expect, powerwise, but you can run it on 3S. It won't be the fastest setup you can get though. I would prefer a 6.5 on 4S.

You do need a LVC though.

For 220, buy a MMM and a 10-11xl and run it on the 6s 4800 lipos you mentioned (2 3s packs in series). Should cost the same, and will be twice as powerful as the novak. Novak 4.5 has a small diameter rotor, so you really need to spin it fast and gear low to get any performance out of it.

I have to say that weight plays a big issue. Also is it the new pro version with 5mm rotor?I run a old hv4.5 in my stampede, which is widened and extended with aluminum chassis,so it's got a litttle extra weight.I run on 3s and it's awesome.I wouldn't trade it for anything. The new version is supposed to have a much better rotor and rated power has gone up from 750 watts to 890 watts for 6 minutes..That is because the new 1 is supposed to drop motor temps and supply better power.( I spent some time talking to 2 novak techs to try and figure this stuff out.)So it might be great for what you want. That being said I just got a medusa motor for my emaxx, even though I had the novak because I was afraid it wouldn't be enough for me.But to go from hv in stampede to hv in emaxx would be very big step down in performance IMO.

wow you are correct lol. for a mmm and a 10xl motor its 235$. i think i might just go that way and use 6 cell lipos.

thanks!

The HV motors especially with the 5mm shaft are far superior to the feigao motors in terms of efficiency and quality, but if you really want to save money, get the 12xl and run it on 6s with the mmm. I'll tell you one thing however. If I could go back in time, I would definately buy a neu motor instead of the feigao I bought, even if the neu costed $150 more.
