4pk? - 05.18.2008, 03:06 PM

I am going to be building an Brushless mbx5t and was wondering if the 4pk is a good deal? i heard nice reviews from the 3pk and i saw the 4pk will be out soon (does anyone know when?) and i was thinking if it would be a good radio. I will be using a Dx2 untill the 4pk comes in. But does anyone know when they will be released?

I use an older 3PK and have had it now 4 yrs or so. It has capabilities I'll never use or even understand. I haven't moved to their FASST system due to cost (I have 13 rcs I'm running off the 3PK) and since I just bash, I would rather put the money for new radio plus 13-14 new rxs toward another rc or some hopups. I've never had probs on FM and can drive mine literally out of sight range wise. Don't see how could be better, just newer.

Its an impressive looking tx though, but for me, I'd have to find a deal like I did for my 3PK before I'd consider one. Think you'd need to be an elite racer to really benefit from 4PK's capabilities. Other txs will give you 95+% of same capabilities for a less $$s. If you want the best though, thats the best Futaba's got to offer currently and will be their flagship tx for several yrs to come.

I also have a 3PK and use it w/ 5 vehicles. I love mine...now that I understand it I agree w/ Duster, the 3PK is plenty of radio for just about anyone. Be prepared to spend some time reading, re-reading the instructions.

1. MBX-6 T8 1900KV, RX8 ON 4S
2. MBX-5T 1520, MMM ON 5S
3. MBX-5 ONROAD CONVERSION 1515, MMM ON 5S
4. MRX-3 ON ROAD CONVERSION 1512, MMM ON 6S
5. TEN T 2650 T8, MMP ON 3S

Personally, I'd get FASST module. I've read about some probs with the other. I think it makes sense to keep everything Futaba.

The manual is your friend, lol!! This is not a radio you can just pick up and use, you'll get nowhere fast. It takes a while, but the more you use it, the better you'll get to know it, understand it and like it.

Yeah, i wanted a radio that i could use with all my RC's (have one now but will get many others) and a radio that i wouldnt have to upgrade and will last a long time. I was thinking about the FASST also. Would it be possible to get any telemetry?

The most I've seen about the 4PK is on Futaba's site -

http://2.4gigahertz.com/systems/futk4900.html

I don't see mention of telemetry. A search there on telemetry didn't return anything. I wonder if they are working on that or don't consider it necessary?
I wouldn't know where you could check into that, but they may answer an email about it if they know you're considering one.

Just want to thro my opinion out there on the Nomadio react. I has used the 3pk and like the react better.
Pro-
4 channel
Computer programmable and unpalatable
light wieght
very very fast response time

Con-
battery is cheap
and plastic looks cheap but is tough!
rx's are kind of big

you can find them pretty frequently on ebay. A react with a receiver should be around 200-220 used...

Still alot cheaper then a futaba 4pk with some more features.

And they (react and sensor) can run spektrum receivers.

(Note - the sensor you must have a laptop computer to switch it from nomadio to spektrum. The react has enough on board memory to just switch back and forth. So no laptop need for the react.)
