ESC Fan - 09.24.2005, 10:47 PM

Pardon my ignorance, but could someone post a diagram of how to wire an ESC fan. I am mounting one on my E-Maxx and would like it to be wired so when I turn the truck on the fan comes on.

Thanks in advance

Yes, I am using the stock Traxxas 3 Channel RX.
I haven't bought the fans yet. I am planning on using some small CPU fans (I believe they can run on various voltages). I would like to use 2 if possible.

Thanks for the help...

I hooked 2 12 V fans (one to each battery) and mounted them over the ESC and motors using a piece of Lexan and zip ties. Turned out great!

For those of you that use a fan on your ESC:
Do you direct the airflow toward or away from the ESC?
I have them forcing air towards the heat sink from above.

Blow air on the heatsink! Much more efficient!

This has been discussed here many times, btw. But nevermind.

Oh, absolutely no need to apologize!
Just wanted to point it out.

Welcome to the forum, btw. (if I haven't welcomed you already)

Do you have a 9920?

Thanks Dafni...

Funny you should ask.

I am planning on purchasing a 9920 from Mike, along with either a 7XL or 9L, as soon as the finances allow. Can't seem to convince the treasurer/wife that a 9920/7XL is something I "need." :D

At the moment I have a MGM120A that is not working. I think I am going to take the shrink-wrap off and tear into it... Mike has already tried his magic, but still couldn't get it to program.

Just for the fun of it, here's a pic of my truck. Most guys here have seen it already, but it has the very combo on it that you were talking about

Edit: don't get confused by the color of the 7XL. It's a Wanderer, exxentially the exact same as a Feigao.

Very nice!
Do you have any vids of it in action?

Unfortunately not. I know nobody who has a camera AND proper editing software. But I can tell you, it handles great and is pretty quick. Tough, too. I love it, and run it a lot.

I would love to make RC videos. I know some vid-worthy bashing spots and stunts. I already thought about starting a search here in my area for someone who would be willing to film and edit some stuff for me.
