7XL/9920 Questions - 09.27.2005, 09:08 PM

I have an E-Maxx, stock diffs w/ al. cases, 66T spur and single spped tranny. Which pinions do you run on 14, 16 and 18 cells? Does the 9920 easily handle 18 cells on speed runs?

Lighter tire and wheel recommendations?

The only weight added are the al. cases, RPM arms, FLM al. bulks, and MIP CVD's.

What else can I do to shame the nitros?

if you plan on shaming the nitros on the track i would recommend the g-maxx chassis. the 7xl is a great motor on anywere from 12-18 cells and i would recommend about 16. not sure on the gearing though. i would definately get a strobe slipper with a brushless motor. so that would make your spur a 51 mod 1. i think but am not sure that on 16 cells you would need a 14 or 16 tooth pinion. not sure though. please correct me if i am wrong. also, a light weight wheel and tire combo would probable be the crimefighters on 40 series dishes and yes the 9920 can handle 18 cells no problem for sure

I agree on 16 Cells with Squee.. I would try a 20T pinion... and just watch the Temps on the ESC... Keep ur truck as light as possible... with 16 cells it'll keep it at 45K rpms.. and with a 20T pinion , you should be gettin' around 45MPH....

Or 18 Cells, and buy a heatsink and 40mm x 40mm fan and zip tie it over the heatlink... For the motor.

remember aqwut; that kv range of the 7XL is without any load!

It can and will handle 18 cells, just don't overgear it. It can do 50mph without too much effort.

I would get a gmaxx chassis too, it keeps the cells where they belong.. Low.....
