Question How is this setup??? - 06.26.2008, 02:20 AM

well ive been searching around i think i found the setup i wanna get.

im going to guinea pig with this esc (gunna have MMM in the wings)
http://cgi.ebay.ca/100A-ESC-Brushles...QQcmdZViewItem

im going to get the 9xl that is the only motor i can get right now so but maybe later a nue.

but the batts i want to get are these:
http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...idProduct=6352
the ratings match the esc but i dunno why i feel like buying two and running them in parrallel just to get more runtime seems like a good idea even though stopping the truck and swapping batts would be easy too. but wouldnt it be better though to have a 5s2p in a sense?? handles amp spikes?? i know that two 5s1p packs would be heavy but not heavier than 14 cells right? well thats waht i want to put in my emaxx 3905 im lookin for 40 mph and i think i can reach it with this setup. just wondering if this would be a good setup to run in a bashing truck also looking for reliability.

so any guidance that i might need??? and how is the 9xl on 5s? how does my setup look?? looks like 300 dollars with the system and batts. and the taps to balance those bats would they work with the astro flight balancer???

thanks alot

you can get close to 50mph with a 9xl on 5s.

for real??? i guess it would be a torque monster then with 22/65 gearing. what would balance it out and make it top speed good but still good torque?? cuz i bash at the dunes 50% of the time and need sand slinging and paddle spinning power. with cool running.

your gonna have to gear up even higher for 50mph hah. i was thinkin more along the lines of 24/62. and do not worry with torque when going brushless, you will have plenty no matter how much top end you gear your truck for. cool running....not too sure about that , you may need to wait for someone to help you on that one.

im looking for 40 mph tops with temps around 120-140 motor(with heatsink and fan) and 120-140 on esc tops with fan. lipos should be very cool s the would ahve almost 200 amps in parrallel and 100amps if used with single pack.

You'll need a better motor if you want 40mph and a cool motor. Feigao's just run too hot. My 9xl revo geared for 40 hits 200 on the motor pretty easy. If I keep the runs short, in the 15 minute range or so, it's OK though.

If you want to save some $$ til you can afford the NEU you could get this motor...
http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...hless_Inrunner
and use the rc-monster heatsink.

If you want to stay cheap on the motor, keep the rest of your setup and just go with a 10xl or 11xl. I found the 9xl on 5s gets prtty hot, pretty fast. I ran a Hacker 10xl (the motor feigao copied) in my buggy and it ran great on 5s. I would expect taht the lower quality feigao would run a bit hotter than the Hacker, but the 10 xl will still run cooler and you should still have not issue getting to 40mph with it.

Just my opinion, but if you go with the lower end motors and want long runtimes without overheating, keep them at or below 30,000 rpm. You can run them faster than that, but they just overheat faster.

I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...

that sounds good. have people used that motor?? is it better then the fieago counterpart??

alright so 10xl would be better suited for 5s and still get me to 40mph?? thats great! i think ill get that one instead!

im not sure they have the 10xl for $29.99 . i just see the 9xl. i have the rcm xl motor clamp, so that should work fine with this 9xl motor for $29.99?
not trying to jack your thread as this will maybe benefit you too BLmaxx.
im currently running a 7xl 24/68 4s= 40mph , if i ran the 9xl geared 24/54 4s= 40mph, would it run cooler than my 7xl?

At top speed...the 9xl SHOULD run cooler than your 7xl set up due to lower motor rpm. The problem is cogging at low speeds. A 54/24 is only a 2.25 to 1 spur/pinion ratio..which i think is kinda rough on a 2 pole motor/ESC when trying to get going. Now the 5cell running 65/24 seems like a better option, provided there is some cooling (heatsink etc). The motor will spin at about 33000 rpm which is on the higher end for those but still do-able.

well the reason why i say 4s is because i dont want to have to buy a 3s lipo and i can just buy a new spur which is alot cheaper to achieve the same speed. i guess i ll have to suffer from cogging but i dont mind that too much.
