alternative ESC suggestions -
06.25.2008, 12:57 AM
Hey boys and girls, aside from the MMM, what's the next best ESC for my truck? truck is: 12lb 1/8 4wd team losi muggy, with neu 1515 1Y (2200kv), and 6S 4800mah 20c hyperion battery. I'm thinking mgm compro 160 amp thingie, but I'm not sure. I'm looking to know the pros and cons of something that I can use in place of the MMM. Sorry, but I don't feel like waiting until august to get mine back, regardless of how anyone feels about CC. Bottom line: I don't have my controller, and thus I have nothing to play with, and with the way I see things going, this summer is going to pass me by, and I still won't have a controller. Summer ruined, and LOTS of cash down the drain.
Soooooo, what can I use to replace the MMM? And please, before anyone starts saying how I need to be patient and wait forever for the arrival of my MMM, if you're gonna post that, then fine, but please back it up with some cold hard facts as to why it's superior, OTHER than the low price, and Castle's service. At this point, I don't care about the price, or service, as I don't actually have anything in my posession other than a receipt and some nice pics.

I dont know your driving style but if you are not a racer and more of an open field basher like me where using reverse is not important and if you are using mechanical brakes or you dont care about brakes you could go with a CC HV ESC and you would need a Pistix converter it would be cheaper than a MGM and you would have CCs prefered software
here are the links
HV ESC

Pistix converter
you need this because the ESC is intended for airplanes

I have thinking about using this ESC if my MMM craps out, and also my long term plans are to try 8s with my Revo

If you didn't have your heart set for 6s, I'd still suggest a quark 125. I run mine in 4 and 5s on a neu 1515/2.5d and it never gets hot, my experience is that its a very reliable esc. I know there are problems and mods for the problems, But i seem to have gotten a good one and it doesn't need mods
Work because i gotta, play because i wanna
People here hate Nitro, I love it. I start it, run it about 50 ft from me and it dies, I go after it. Perfect exercise

Not much about for 6s lipo really, not unless you want a forwards only plane esc and have mech brakes. In that case, there zillions to choose from, lol. Hobbywing, Himodel, Mystery, to name but a few- all to be found on ebay usually. Depends if you want a stop-gap esc for the time being, or a more permanent backup, so to speak.
