ESC opinion - 06.22.2008, 05:31 AM

I have an MMM coming but i think CC will be taking another week or month before they can ship the next batch.

I need a temp and back up ESC for my truck. Do you think a Novak HV Pro 6.5 (5mm shaft) can power my baby? Or should I buy a Mamba Max to drive my existing 8XL? Power source is a 5S A123 cell

GMAXX Chassis
Hitec HSR-5995 (robot servo)
FLM shock tower
FLM arms
FLM Hybrid bulk
HB pro diffs
RCM Slipperential
Traxxas Alu Bigbore shocks
MIP CVDs (front rear)
HPI Savage Center Universal Dogbone
23MM Wheel/Tires (Big Joe)
A123 cells 2 x 5S1P

E-Slayer direct drive to diff
Savage Flux 5T work in progress

I would go with the MM and and an external BEC with the onboard BEC disabled

That is what I am going to be running until my prepaid and preordered MMM arrives. I will be running the MM with the CC BEC on 4s.

Hmmm, that was my option just a bit hesitant to run 16.5V on the MM but it seem most of you do it so I guess its worth it...

I am thinking about disabling the LVC and trying out 5s lipo and that is 18.5v on the MM I have in my Rustler

The Tekin R1 will handle 5s Lipo or A123 with a bec.

LVC can be disable via USB and programming software right? Just wanna make sure, come to think about it I havent thought of that part hehe

Seldom I hear R1 taking on MT like EMAXX. I think it can handle it just not sure about the temps and how well it can stand up to that abuse.. I might be wrong thou

The videos of the R8 are just a R1. The problem is we seldom hear of the Tekins period.

Ok just got my MM from the mailman today. Now I am a bit hesitant after reading a lot of MM setup..

Few of which:
- MM is a hit or miss on 5S
- MM not intended for Monster Truck

Need your consensus guys...Do you think MM can handle my 13lbs truck and 5S A123?

Also disabling BEC means just removing the red wire, right?

when we say 4s it refers to lipos which would be equal to 5s a123 and yes the red wire is the power wire so removing that disables the onboard BEC and the lighest color wire is the signal, and there is no reason a MM cant handle a MT it would be more the motor not having enough torque, before the MMM came out a popular setup was the MM 4s lipo with a 2200 kv motor

Great to hear that...and yes i understand the 4s being lipo...the 5S hit or miss was a lipo thread not A123....

Just wanna make sure that I wont fry this thing otherwise I will end up buying another temp esc before the MMM :(

Thanks
