MegaMotors??? - 10.03.2005, 04:06 PM

Hi all,
I am new here and was doing some research on a brushless system for a E-maxx. Well I got to thinking about a RC10 B3 that I have, it is in need of a new motor, I Fly RC Electric airplanes and have several MegaMotors 22/10/5. It's a fairly low KV motor (2400). I was wondering if this motor could be used on the rc10?

If so what gearing would be recommended. I would like to try the following Battery pack in it.

Polyquest 3s2p 2200 MAH (narrow 12C-16C) 52AMP Continuos

Thus it could go well beyond the motor rating of 35AMP.

Or I guess I could try 6s1p but I would have to stay below 26 AMPS

The last motor I had in it was a 22 turn POS on 6-7 round cells. I certainly would want something with a little more power then that.

What size motor is the Mega? At 2400kv, the best setup would be 5s Lipo.

Here is a link to the motor
http://www.megamotorsusa.com/Brushle...10-5.htm?id=16

I noticed that the 4 turn states for 1/10 or 1/12 scale cars and trucks. Maybe the 5 turn at higher voltages will work.

I think it has same bolt patterns as a speed 550. I'll check that real quick like tonight.

Also for a test. Think it would be safe to try a Airplane ESC. I have a CC80. I know I really need a car ESC but I figure if I go a little over kill for now that I might be able to test the motor.

I was hoping Mike would e-mail me back today on when he was going to get the 9920's instock. Does he have a voice #? I could not find one on this site.

The motor might work, just run enough juice to it. The controller though, most likely not. Driving could be too hard on it, but I've never heard of that one......mainly 'cause I'm not a bird nerd. ;)

If its the Castle Creations 80 amp, you should be fairly safe with a low amp draw motor like that, but it'll feels a bit funny to drive.

I think I may just try it then I will get the real stuff, I am thinking want the 9920 controller (But I can not find them in stock) and I am thinking a Feago 9L for the E-maxx. Then I could put the Mega into the B3 and crank up the volts until she moves ok.

I wish I had an accurate date of availability! I thought I would have had the controllers a couple weeks ago! Hopefully I have them soon(week or two), but I honestly don't know, as I have been unable to contact BK.
