Optimal Motor Choice For Touring Car - 07.27.2008, 11:52 PM

I am looking at picking up a HB cyclone kit (non-pro) to race at the local track with a group of guys(held at a parking lot so not necessarily the grippiest and or smoothest surface but more of an old weathered asphalt kind of track). They run Novak's, brushed, the traxxas motor, and on cc motor in their touring cars. It is pretty much a mod electric class so any combination of batty, ESC, and motor are allowed. I am not sure how fast they are but they are not faster than the nitros (tc3s) so i am guessing 40 tops maybe 45. I am new to touring cars but it looks like something cool to get started in. I really don't want something everybody else is running. I would like something a bit faster but not something that has such a high kv that it runs hot. I was guessing around 50mph for speed. My main concern is efficiency, longevity, and temperature. I was looking at many options and it seems a higher end motor is what will fit my needs i was looking at the tekin motors and ESC(R1) and the smaller Neus(1509, 1506) and Lehners(1920). It seems the Neus would be the best choice because they are not to hard to find like the Lehners. O BTW i will be running a 2s 4270 flight power pack (20c 85 amps continuous) Lastly i was thinking of the r1 as an ESC because it is small but if you guys have any other recommendations that would be great. Basically i am looking for a super efficient cold running system that that enough speed to pass them on the straights but not something so overpowered that everytime i touch the throttle i spin out. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks
