How Can i Fix My Reciever? - 07.20.2008, 10:17 PM

Hey guys. i was Driving my raze late yester day and my Antenna holder broke loose from the chassis and the tube and wire got sucked up into my outrunner and drivetrain

well now lets say that my antenna wire is in three peices.

Ther is a short stub coming out of the receiver itself that i should be able to solder to.
Will soldering to the antenna wire hurt anything?
am i better off soldering a whole new wire onto the Rx?
I popped open the reciever and there is this white almost rubber-ish insulation on where the wire needs to go.... is it safe to remove?

What type of receiver? It is usually best to just replace the entire antenna wire.

just buy a replacement wire (must suit that reciever or you WILL have issues) or buy another reciever and steal the antenna off that :P

Duratrax is just rabadged futaba so this wire will work. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXH356&P=ML If you read it is is made for the FM radios so you will not have any issues using this because like i said the duratrax is futaba with the name duratrax on it. Also that white rubberish stuff is probably a anti corrosive that will need to be put back on after you replace the antenna. I would solder the new antenna to the board directly for best reception.

i wouldn't use any wire because as tc3 racer said it COULD cause interference. Antenna wires are very very soft wires and you will at least have to match that to have any luck at all. I Personally would just buy the wire made for it. It is only 1.59 then you know you will not have any problems and your range will be just as good as it was if not better.

No, the wire also has to be close to the same length. Thicker also won't fit in the places an antenna wire needs to go. I've used normal wire from radio shack for years and never had a problem. If fact I've had the same roll for years.
