i think it may be the F/S stuff. Mine is closed as well. Proly cause another thread got started saying to add a dedicated section for F/S items. either they going to do this or had it with people and not allow F/S at all. if it is the not allowing it at all that is a bummer.

I don't know who did this either, but the FAQ about F/S items states that any F/S thread will be closed to prevent future posting. The idea is to simply state that something is for sale and then everything else is to be handled via PM/email.

Once the sale is done, let one of the mods know and we'll delete the thread.

I think I speak for all users when I say that having a F/S section is handy to have here. However, if Mike's forum starts getting filled with this type of thing, he's just gonna stop it altogether. I think we can all live with a little inconvenience for the priveledge we have. After all, Mike doesn't exactly make any money by the sales made on here and that's what a business is all about...

EDIT: After looking at the various FS threads, it looks like they were all closed for all the users...

Which is fine by me - some of the "bumping" multiple times a day was getting annoying...

It used to be that a FS thread was closed same day and everything but the original post deleted...

yeah the 5 min bumping was annoying. If no one wants the items, then no one wants the items. usually if you have something for sale they will go fast if someone wants it. I tried to not bump mine to often because of this. But if they are all closed how will we know they are there. I recommend searching for "f/s" to get listings. I just put in "f/s" and it came up with all the threads so i think this is a good option. If you want to buy something this is a good thing to use.

all of the for sale threads are supposed to be in the general discusion forum. There isnt that much activity in that forum so it should be pretty easy to scroll through it and find them if you are looking. If people post in the correct section and follow the rules its pretty simple.

I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...

^ Exactly. Which is why I agree with the current policy. No sense in bumping a thread everyone has already seen and decided not to act upon.

If you really want to increase your exposure take it to rctech.net or rcuniverse.

I think bumping a thread occasionally gives people a chance to see it that may not have been online the first day it was up. Many of the members here don't log-in everyday so they'll miss it when it gets buried. I'm not saying to bump it hourly, but I don't see a problem with bumping it 24 hours after you first listed it, then perhaps a few days or weeks after that.

For example, my E-maxx for sale thread generated only one PM the first time I put it up. I bumped it yesterday and four more people responded to it.

I think a separate section for the sale items would be ideal though so you wouldn't have to see them unless you wanted to.

I also agree that exposure would increase by taking it to other forums.

While I realize that allowing items for sale on this forum doesn't directly benefit Mike, selling items does free up the R/C budget allowing us to spend more money in his store. If I need the cash for one of his products, I can just sell an item on his forum. I hope the privilege continues so long as it's not abused and the transactions continue to be peaceful and productive.

Those are my thoughts anyway ...

(Wow, I just noticed that this was my 400th post in the three years I've been on here. I guess I don't have much to say very often. Good times. :-))

I agree that the bumping of F/S threads is very annoying....but it doesnt take much to skip over them

I only get tired of constant bumping every few hours. Once a day or every couple of days two or three times is okay though. I also don't like the "soft bumps" when people add a new post to their for sale thread for the sake of bumping but are trying to make it look like they aren't bumping. That is what the edit key is for.
