The power of brushless - 10.16.2005, 09:29 PM

Hi,

As a follow up to my adventure in converting the savage to brushless power, I have finally managed to make a short, jerky video of the beast in action.

The savage was running on 5S lipo Kokam 20C 3200mAH lipo, Feigao 7XL & BK warrior 9920.

The truck wheelies on command even on the low traction sandy surface of the bashing location. I also tried to set the throttle exponential to -34% but if I punch the trigger, it still did the wheelies.

My friends were running an XTM mammoth (not sure which version, not the latest I think), Hotbodies Lightning (not the pro version) & an AE MGT. I wanted to race them in a drag race but just could not as I was unable to control my truck even on a straight ! (see video). However, subjectively, my truck felt much faster with the lightning second & XTM third.

After the run in the evening, I realised that my throttle end point setting was at 87%. I have forgotten to change this from the last run a few weeks ago when I was runnign 6S lipo. So, the savage could have gone faster still.

Towards the end of the video after the flip, a rear link was dislocated. Just reattach & all was ok again. Over the course of the 1 hour session, I flipped the thing at least 7 to 8 times & everything held up ok. The savage is pretty tough. The home made battery tray & motor mount held up ok too.

By the way, my savage is on 2 speed with brakes on 15/49 gearing.

Regards,
Joe Ling
