Battery box for .5 crt? - 08.25.2008, 10:59 AM

I noticed now on the RCM .5 CRT conversion kit it comes with a battery box. Is this something that can be purchased separetly? I currently have the Tekno RC battery tray in my conversion and I'm not too thrilled with it. I'm hoping the battery box would be a better solution.

Yeah I was playing with that option too. In the latest pictures in the store, it looks like the aluminum strap is no longer there, and the description said battery box, so I thought it might be worth asking :) Just want to protect my battery from power sliding into something solid :)

Not any longer - Mike has updated his design, mine came with a tray. Given the pics I had seen on site and elsewhere I asked about it and he told me he updated the design. Current design -

Got any pics of your setup? I might have to bug Mike to see if I can buy the tray stand alone. I wonder if the chassis layout is still the same...

Center diff looks to be shifted over to the motor size to make some more room for the battery... Braces look different, and the esc tray is not in the center anymore, but seems to be part of the servo mount...

Sorry, no pics yet cause I've been working my hump off at work, I'm a consultant and have to get after it when the works there. Been 60+ billable hr weeks for the last two months with no break ahead. No spare but good money.

The chassis layout is slightly diff - here 's what Mike said in his reply to my initial ques on why I didn't seem to have a batt hold-down -

"Sorry, Harold - I updated the layout a bit and haven't updated the pictures yet. I attached a picture of the new layout - I improved a few things and added a battery tray, which replaces the original standoffs and battery bar. The box can be adjusted on the chassis to the front or rear as needed for weight balance, and the motor and diff have been moved further to the non-battey side for more battery space and improved weight balance. Likewise, the standoffs you mentioned are likely the new chassis braces which have replaced the stock units. Either of our current trays could also be installed onto the chassis in this configuration as well."

Thi picture I linked above is the pic Mike sent me, it is the new layout with the tray vs the older batt posts and hold down. Lincpimp is correct about the esc tray being changed.
