Good question. I'm sure they are 2 poles mainly because of the way the magnet is. If it had more the 2 poles it would look something like a Aveox and Neu.

Reason for the question is, I'll be soon having a 200A ESC coming and I plan on using the above mentioned HV to try and set a 2S lipo speed record.

Do the math. If the 4.5 is 5000 kv a 2.5 would theoretically be 4.5/2.5 x 5000 = 9000kv and a 1.5 would be 4.5/1.5 x 5000 = 15000 kv, but in reality, I would guess more like 8000 and 12000 since it would be hard to fit all that wire in the stator with less turns to work with.

You might be right, but I was hoping the Novak guys would give their answer. I'm actually going to send it to a guy to have it done and I'm going to get a 200A ESC soon to try it out. It should be fun .

I can check with the engineers, but I'm not sure we have ever been interested in those low wind HV motors. So, no reason to wind, test and measure 1.5s or 2.5s.

Like I have said, I don't have the qualifications to answer tech questions. Speedy's Kv estimates are probably as good as any others. I'll check on the number of poles.

If you are putting an HV 4400 in a "new" E-Maxx, you need to install the 5mm shaft rotor.

How exactly does that work? The poles have to be even numbers. You only have north/south in multiples of 2 for a magnet. So for every north you have to have a south and vise versa. IE: a four pole motor goes north/south/north/south

If a motor were three pole it would go north/south/north and would stop turning after the second north. Are you sure you are not confusing poles with phases?

I believe he meant that Novaks have 3 slot "stators" and 2 pole magnets.

Wow. 3 pole. Incredible. You probably meant 3 phase 2 pole. Your magnet design can only support 2 pole (2 poles are N-S and 4 poles uses 4 magnets N-S-N-S). If your rotor was 4 pole than it would look like a Aveox, Neu, Plettenberg and Medusa and your motor would have more stators to make it work properly. This is just an awesome answer from someone who works at Novak. Please have Bob or someone else provide the correct answer.

Brutal was the guys when I first posted about my ESCs without any pictures. Man they didn't let a poor guy like me get away with it . NovakTwo knows we mean well .

Lutach, you knew pictures are a minimum requirement, yet you posted anyway. NovakTwo is probably a PR/marketing guy without the techy knowledge that some of us ask about. Who besides us would care how many poles it has? And who besides us would be able to explain why 3 is not the correct answer? Just try asking that at the T forums.
