Need Help Choosing lipo's -
11.27.2008, 05:47 PM
Hey guys, trying to put together a Christmas List. Im getting prepared for racing at Trax70in Browns Mills Nj. I have most of the things I need layed out- excepts for batteries. Currently I have 1 zippy 5s 4000mah pack, but my track's mains are 15 minutes long- I doubt 4000mah will make that long racing. I need help/suggestions on Lipo's. My track does not necessitate ROAR legal packs. Also for you racers out there, 4s or 5s?
My choices
-2x Enerland Hardcased 2s 5100mah$99 each
25C (127.5A) cont, 50C (255.0A) burst
-2x Reedy 2s 5000mah Pack$94 each
100A continuous, 125A-175A burst
- Elite 4s 5300mah Cell 30C
30C(159 amps) continuous, Burst C Rate 50C - (265 amps)
- ZIPPY-H 5000mAh 4S1P 20-30C Lipoly Pack $90 each
20c(100a) Continuous, Burst 30C(150a)
- NEU 5000EP 4S1P pack $195 each
30c(150a)Continuous, 60c(300a)
Please feel free to suggest other lipos to me, im trying not to venture past 210ish in price.
Thanks for the help in advanced

For 2200kv, 4s. Try a pair of 5000 neu or fp lipos.

What is the size limitation on your RC? One or two packs?
The answer is no. And yes, mine is faster.

I can't really make a suggestion based on experience, but have you considered the 5000mah 35C Elites? I've heard nothing but great things about them, and their price is awesome. They're sold out right now, but I'm told some more should be coming in within a week or so (I emailed Mike there as I'm looking to buy some myself). Only possible downside for your app is that they're an unusual shape, and obviously a tad lower capacity than the 5300's.

6Ah should run for 15 minutes. One of these mathematical geeks on here will work out the exact numbers, I'm sure. FP are probably the best, but the most $$$. Zippy are the cheapest, but are not race legal for the tracks that are checking. If they don't care about the packs, I would get a pair of the Zippy packs. Two of those are about the price of one of any of the other.

That would be perfect. The 3k Zippys are like 15c and may not hold to the MMM, but those will work just fine.

That second picture could work if you found some creative spot to mount the steering servo.

I see you have the Reedy 2s pack in your list. On my informal testing of a used Reedy 5000 vs. a new Neu 2s 25c 5000 hard case ($60), the Neu showed +~.4 volt under 80-100 amp load better than the Reedy. Considering price, 2 of the Neu packs might be the ticket.

In the second picture the packs are saddle'd in the rear of the truck, motor across from the servo... could probably mount the esc on top on the steering servo.
