My new 8ight BL build thread.....yep - 01.05.2009, 03:00 AM

Well I started this thread because I realize I ask to many questions and I did not want to clutter up the site any more. I started this one and a CRT.5 thread over in mini truggies section.

So this is what I have so far. I bought a 8ight pro roller with a Novak Conversion on the bay (novak kit for sale BTW) and a rtr to sell off the nitro stuff and speky dx2 (NIB) to leave the rest for back up parts...also off the bay. Even though I know this is misplaced I also have the CRT.5 going to which is new (other build thread).

The plan was to get the CRT.5 running with my mm5700 on 3s, but after installation last nite I found that I demagged the motor probably by thermal-ling it. So now I am considering the MMM 2200kv on 6s lipo and possibly using the same motor in the .5 for stupid ridiculous fun as long as it wont tear the drive train in two.

My plan of attack as of yet....
RCM conversion or tekno for the 8ight (still have yet to decide...more research)
MMM combo with 2200kv
5s and 6s zippy lipos
spektrum dx3s with telementry

I really want something capable of high speed runs and may get another medusa motor for that purpose. But already on 6s Im at close to 49K RPM sooo i dunno. I need to work on figuring out Brians Calculator for the est. speed.

Anyway This is my 1st BL 1/8 build conversion so if you guys would keep checking back with me and give assitance I would really appreciate it. I want to take my time though just because I love to build them just as much as the running. Plus they are so damn good looking when they are crispy new. The construction and quality/duarability blew me away on these guys. i had
FT T4 on the mm5700 3s and it was insane but broke almost everytime out. This thing makes that truck look like toy-grade. Cant wait..plus I am going to start going to the track for racing fun.

Anyway are some pics to get the thread started, I will take lots along the way. BTW this forum rocks.

My christmas purchases collection....yea maybe a bit overboard.

If somebody reads this, I need suggestions on what size/brand connectors to get fo rmy two motors. Something resonable 4-5.5 gauge I guess is the option.

The combo comes with 6.5mm bullets. I have them on my ESC and motor. I like them. For my batteries and power wires from the ESC, I'm using deans ultra plugs.

Castle Neu 1520 on 6S LiPo Powered Gmaxx (Nitro Killer)
Predator with OS .21TM
Supermaxx with Mach .26
Revo with OS .18TZ
Kyosho ST-RR Conversion
Ofna CR with Tekin ESC/Motor (2)

I didnt know the MMM came with the bullets attached....I am getting a medusa motor sent so I guess I will run the same size so easy changes can be made.

On the lipo connectors, I usually use deans. But had a buddy of mine that was running a bigger blue connector...seemed easier to handle in size and function. Maybe someone knows something comparable.

Was he running Losi EC5's?
I thought about using them but they are a bit pricey so I'm just using 6.5mm bullets.

I would use the losi conversion. I have 2 8ights converted and the losi conversion is perfect. Looks completely stock!

Agreed. I also did the same thing, both a Losi conversion and also an RCM. Not to take away from RCM but have to be honest and say the Losi kit is VERY slick indeed. The motor position adjustment system is so simple it's ingenius !!

The Losi conversion is slick and factory looking. I also agree that motor mount is a nice piece. However, weight is a big deal if you are into racing and IMO the RCM setup is both lighter and has better weight distribution. IMO the Losi setup puts too much weight on the left side of the car and the battery is to close to the front of the car. If you are into bashing then get some heavy springs for the front and you'll be good with the Losi kit, but if you want to race then the RCM is better.

E-CRT.5 Monster - RCM chassis, MM/Medusa 50x3300/3s, truck tires, 1/8 shocks
E-CRT.5 Stock - Sidewinder/4600/2s, buggy tires
E-8ight - Tekin RX8 2000kv/4S
E-8ight T- Tekin RX8 1700kv/5S

Man that is a long can on that thing...lol. Hey guys thankyou for the feedback and suggestion. Have you driven with mech. brakes?? That's the only thing I was really considering the teckno kit for but I would have to switch my dx2 out due to no mixing which is just more money which has been non-existent as of late. I am really leaning towards the kit with no brakes now though. I have read so much on these conversions that I really just dont know. Losi would be the simplest and cleanest IMO fo sho tho....

Paul

Couple more sales and I will have all my stuff. More orders next week.

My box only says
Castle Creations Inc.
010-0062-01
Mamba Monster ESC w/2200KV Motor

But I believe it is a V3 due to the fact that the battery wires are soldered to the board and they eliminated the bullets on those.
No worries tho.
