I leave the esc unhooked and use a receiver pack to get my receiver bound to the transmitter first. Then make sure all end points set to 100. I know my DX3 defaults to 50 on the brake, so check that too. Then remove the receiver pack and hook up the esc and do the set up to get the esc set to the radio. If you have trouble here, you can hook the esc to the computer with the castlelink and give the esc a longer arming time.

Took them both out of the box, put batteries in controller, put connector on Mamba, turned on transmitter, turned on Mamba and I could drive it right out of the box without touching anything.
Did the calibration procedure (full throttle, full brake, neutral) for the mamba and I was able to drive it faster.
