Voltage booster

Hey guys, I have a problem with my Nomadio react radio. I am running a 1s lipo to power it, and even at 4.2v it says low battery. The react is meant to run on 5v, and I saw this gizmo on hobbycity that would cure my problem.

Only problem with that is, my radio takes a JST plug, and the output for this is a servo connector (can't remember the exact name.) I would easily convert it to JST but I can't because it has a 3rd wire that comes out of it. Does anyone know how to modify the booster to make it work? the connector is PWM, and black is common, red is 5v, and white is signal... since the booster gets no signal from the reciever, you can just ignore it or remove it. my guess is that the only reason the white wire is there is to easily tell polarity when plugging it into your Rx

Does it have a lvc? It will make it so your radio wont be able to tell when the battery gets low.

idk if it does or not, but its only an rx pack so it wont be drawing much and also, i dont think the 3rd wire would affect an lvc. the signal goes out from rx to servo, esc, etc... not in from other devices as far as i know

Is that powerful enough to work?It says 1 amp,I would think a good steering servo would need more.But honestly have no clue what the amp draw on your servo is.

Is this for the Tx or the Rx?

you would be better off using a two cell and limiting the output to 6.2v. When it falls below you just shut it down. LV alarm on the react is 6v if I remember correctly.

No, the react Tx is made to run on a 4 cell Nimh pack so the LV alarm couldn't be 6v.

I agree. Running 2s and using a BEC or something would be better than trying to step-up the voltage. Stepping up voltage will increase the input current (it's a "power transfer") so runtime would be less than 4 NiMH cells at the same capacity.

Either way, you'd have to use some type of LVC unless the step up or step down voltage followed the battery voltage and could set an alarm. This could be done with a switching circuit that did not actually regulate.
